Formally established in 2025 by the Delaware County Board of Supervisors, the Division of Parks and Landscape Architecture is located within the Department of Planning, Parks, and Watershed Affairs.  The Division was created to assist local municipalities in the design, planning, grant funding, and implementation of outdoor recreation and publicly owned open spaces throughout the county.

Various outdoor recreation projects throughout the county are currently at various stages of completion which assist towns in reimagining existing municipal facilities such as walking trails, boat ramps, existing municipal parks, and walking trails.

A County-wide Comprehensive Open Space and Outdoor Recreation plan is currently being developed.  This plan will be the guiding document of the Division and will be updated on a 5-7 year interval.  It will quantify the extensive amount of open spaces within the County, evaluate if the communities are adequately served by existing outdoor recreation opportunities, and make recommendations for the potential improvements to accommodate both residents and visitors with access to nature and outdoor recreation opportunities.
